Pictorial History Project
Due to the dramatic changes in the landscape in Llanddulas, Rhyd-y-Foel and Abergele over last 100 years, we have been blessed with a mixture of both historic and modern architecture. However recently we have seen our environment and surrounding put at risk of change, so before any further developments are proposed, the Trust would like to celebrate our historic and modern architecture by undertaking to research and photograph many of the significant and historical buildings of the three communities.
The project will feature both the social history of the buildings and the families that live in them and the architectural period and significance. It will work with various community groups and members of the community in undertaking the task of photographing the historic houses and buildings of Llanddulas, Rhyd-y-Foel and Abergele and telling the stories behind them. This includes the local churches, chapels, shops, schools amongst other places.
A big thank you must also go to our key supporters for this project, which have been Rhyl Flats Community Fund, Conwy CBC Arts Development, Llanddulas and Rhyd-y-Foel Community Council and Abergele Town Council, we will be sure to keep you updated on the progress.
At the end of the project it will share the findings and celebrate the beautiful and history of three communities in an Exhibition at Abergele Library. It is also hoped that the findings will be written up into a book, which will be distributed to all large community groups in the three communities.
